Charles (Chum) Stone, 85, of Miller Ave. passed away the afternoon of July 14, 2013 at Edison Manor Rehabilitation Center.
Born in New Castle on April 7, 1928, Charles was the son of the late Charles and Jennette Venditto Stone. Preceding him in death on March 11, 2012 is his wife, the former Virginia Cumberledge whom he married on March 28, 1981.
He was a member of St. Vitus Church. Charles retired from Mesta Machine Corporation where he worked as a machine operator. Upon retirement, he worked at the Neshannock School District as a custodian. Charles was a member of the Duca Degli Abruzzi Club and enjoyed doing yard work and gardening. Above all else Charles cherished the times he spent with his family.
Survivors include his son, Gary Stone and his wife Carol; his daughters, Kathy Montgomery, Carol Morrison, all of New Castle; his sister, Helen Stone of New Castle; seven grandchildren, Gary and Annlyn Stone, Erin Stone, April and Bob Prestopine, Arthur and Patty Morrison, Louie Voto, Tara Voto, Juliann Holmes, fourteen great-grandchildren and his goddaughter, Maria Stone.
In addition to his parents and wife, Charles is preceded in death by three brothers, Frank Stone, Orlando Stone and Michael Stone, six sisters, Esther Rico, Dolly Pallerino, Phyllis Haybarger, Angeline Ryan, Minnie Smith, Laura DeMarco and his former wife, Louise Mancino Stone.
Visitation is Wednesday from 4PM to 7PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St. followed by a Blessing Service at 7PM.
Internment will take place at Oak Park Cemetery.
