Charles W. Gibson, Sr., 73, of Worthington Ave passed away at his home the morning of May 30, 2013. He was born to the late Charles and Beatrice Ricker Gibson on January 5, 1940. He married Carol Sallmen on January 10, 1964. She survives at home.
He had worked as an auto body repairman at the Bump Shoppe. Prior to that, he had also worked at Buds Auto Body and Pearsall Auto. He enjoyed woodworking and, in his early years, motorcycling and boating. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Charles W. Gibson, Jr. and Ruth Conti and husband Anthony, both of New Castle; a brother, William Gibson of New Castle; two grandchildren, Brandon Conti and Lanna Conti; and a great-grandchild, Anthony Quinn. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Gibson.
Visitation will be held Friday from 5pm to 7pm at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A service will take place on Saturday at 10am at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Dennis Bupp.
Interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery.
